These 'Star Wars' R2-D2-Themed Bags Are Made With 9,000 Crystals Each

Judith Leiber Couture has joined forces with Lucasfilm to create crystal-embellished handbags in the form of Star Wars‘ beloved R2-D2 character.

A full year in the making and requiring over 150 hours of craftsmanship, the extravagant novelty clutches are handset with 9,000 crystals each. “I have always loved R2-D2’s endearing personality. There is so much joy and nostalgia attached to the character… R2-D2 is timeless, whimsical and charming – similar attributes to that of our minaudières,” the label’s Chief Creative Officer Jana Matheson shares in a statement. The iconic droid character is seen in two colorways: a white-and-blue option and an iteration covered in 24-karat gold-plated crystals.
