Timothée Chalamet Confirmed To Play Willy Wonka in Upcoming Origin Movie
Who’s ready to witness the actor’s singing and dancing skills on the big screen?
Back in January, Warner Bros. announced that a Willy Wonka origin movie is on its way. Titled Wonka, Timothée Chalamet and Tom Holland were being considered for the role of the eccentric inventor and chocolate master. Now, Deadline has confirmed that Chalamet has been chosen to take on the part of Willy.
Based on Roald Dahl’s characters, the film will follow a young “Willy Wonka and his adventures prior to opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory.” According to sources, this will be the first time the Oscar-nominated actor will get to showcase his singing and dancing skills through the movie’s musical scenes. “He’s been the top choice for some time but scheduling was a hurdle that had to be overcome as training for those numbers is included in the prep for this film,” Deadline reported.
Wonka will mark the third time Warner Bros. has adapted Dahl’s iconic story onto the big screen. The first one released in 1971, which starred Gene Wilder, while the second premiered in 2005 with Johnny Depp.
Details about the plot have yet to be disclosed. Stay tuned while we wait for more details to surface.
