Balenciaga's Spring 2022 Runway Features 44 Clones of One Model
Wearing more “hacked” goods from Gucci.
After “hacking” Gucci‘s 100th anniversary collection, Demna Gvasalia has unveiled his Spring 2022 range for Balenciaga. This time around, the designer explores the world of clones.
“It’s a deep fake of a fashion show. What we see online is not what it is. What’s real and what’s fake?” Gvasalia questions for the runway collection titled “Clones.” The show, which seems to be accompanied by an audience wearing all-black, actually took place without in-person spectators. “It’s a show that never happened, but the clothes are real, they were made,” he continued in a conversation with Vogue.
The entire presentation is modeled by Eliza Douglas, who is seen wearing 44 looks spanning men’s and womenswear pieces. The show opens with a clone covered head-to-toe in black with fabric draped over the head on high boots. Serving contrast is an electric yellow dress featuring pleated details throughout, while oversized silhouettes with boxy shoulders dominate the runway. Further standouts include Gucci-”hacked” accessories – crossbody bags and large totes that are updated with double-B branding to replace the iconic GG motif. Gvasalia has also spray-painted “THIS IS NOT A GUCCI BAG” lettering across one of the designs from the capsule, which further features small leather goods, belts, scarves and more.

In case you missed it, the fashion house recently dropped a collection paying homage to Sony’s PlayStation 5.
