Dr. Martens Taps BAPE and Mastermind Japan To Reimagine the 1461 Silhouette
A classic shoe gets a touch of Japanese streetwear.
In a new three-way collaboration, Dr. Martens has partnered with Japanese streetwear labels A BATHING APE and mastermind JAPAN to revamp the 1461 shoe, merging subcultures alongside the brand identities.
The updated silhouette is an amalgamation of the three brands, revamped through a trio of creative lenses in true East-meets-West fashion. Crafted from smooth leather and accentuated with a triple branded dog tag, the shoe is screen printed with BAPE’s “shark mouth” on one side, and mastermind JAPAN’s “skull” on the other. Other details include antique-style black lace charms and a tri-branded sock liner, as well as the signature Dr. Martens heel-loop and yellow welt stitching.
