Airbrush Prints Take Over Givenchy's Spring 2022 Resort Collection

Matthew M. Williams teams up with graphic artist Chito to expand on his signature style, while debuting a new collaboration with RIMOWA.

Marking his first pre-collection runway show for Givenchy, Matthew M. Williams has returned with an airbrushed range for the Resort 2022 season. Garments and accessories are created in collaboration with graphic artist Chito, who has also worked with the creative director on a series of RIMOWA suitcases.

“I wanted to bring together my American roots and my brand new life in Paris. There’s an energy of striking out for a new adventure, of drawing on something familiar yet creating something completely new,” Williams explained the inspiration behind his new designs in a press release. “Chito made an ideal collaborator because we share that storyline; we speak the same language. Like me, he expresses his distinct visual signatures through unique pieces that give people total freedom to make creations their own personal statement.”

Set on Paris’ train tracks, the collection represents the bridge between Williams’ two homes. Chito’s cartoon dog motif appears on a series of dresses, tees and more, matching the horn caps the designer showcased for Spring/Summer 2021. The graphic artist additionally introduces his prints Truehearted (an image of a girl and a heart) and 4G Heart (a blend of the Givenchy DNA and his own signature) in contrasting colors. Standout looks feature delicate spider-web hoodies, distressed jeans and hardware buckles on tailored jackets. The collection is highlighted with silver RIMOWA suitcases adorned with Chito’s airbrushed designs.
