You Can Now Buy Tesla Merch Using Dogecoin
Leading to a surge in the price of the cryptocurrency.
Elon Musk has announced that select Tesla merchandise can now be purchased using Dogecoin, leading to a 15% surge in the price of the cryptocurrency.
“Tesla merch buyable with Dogecoin,” the entrepreneur wrote on Twitter. While Dogecoin isn’t supported for the brand’s car purchases, those who own the crypto can use it for select items such as the Giga Texas Belt Buckle (835 DOGE), Cyberquad for Kids (12,020 DOGE), Cyberwhistle (300 DOGE) and S3XY Mug (150 DOGE).
With the announcement, DOGE reached a price of $0.20 USD before settling at $0.18 USD later in the day. As of writing, the crypto is priced at $0.19 USD.
This isn’t the first time Tesla has allowed cryptocurrency purchases. Last year, Musk began accepting Bitcoin payments for cars, only to suspend the service two months later.
