The Y2K Hair Stamps Trend Is Back – Thanks to Rihanna, Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion
We put together a list of color sprays and dyes to help you recreate the look.
Hair stamps, a beauty trend that originated in the early ’00s, is slowly making its way back into the beauty world.
Celebrities like Dua Lipa rocked the style earlier this month featuring big red hearts stamped onto her blonde hair. Back in February 2021, Megan Thee Stallion‘s hairstylist Kellon Deryck elevated the rapper’s Barbie-inspired look for her “Cry Baby” music video with hand-painted flower stencils in multiple sizes.
Most recently, Rihanna hopped on the trend with her long black locks stamped with horizontal ruby-red stripes — reminiscent of the ’00s “raccoon tail hair” — in Savage X Fenty’s Valentine’s Day campaign. After Rih Rih and her lingerie brand took to Instagram to promote the new collection, the search for “hair stamps” saw a surge overnight by around 566%, while “Rihanna hair” skyrocketed by 6,700%, as per beauty retailer Justmylook.

For those who are interested in hopping on the trend, we gathered some temporary color sprays and dyes below to help you recreate your own version of the look. Continue scrolling for the full list.
