Balenciaga's Lay's Potato Chip Bag Will Reportedly Release for $1,800 USD
A regular bag of Lay’s potato chips costs $4 USD.
Out of all the unusual accessories revealed on Balenciaga‘s Spring/Summer 2023 “The Mud Show” runway at Paris Fashion Week, the unexpected Lay’s Potato Chip Bag was probably one of the most talked about. Rumors are suggesting that the collaborative clutch will release for a hefty price tag of $1,800 USD — 450 times the price of a regular bag of Lay’s potato chips that costs $4 USD.
The handbag arrives in leather printed with Lay’s chip bag design throughout, in the original flavor as well as a spicy “Balenciaga” flavored version. Both feature Balenciaga text at the front, while the interior of the accessory features metallic silver lining to replicate the look of an actual potato chip bag. The design is complete with a simple zipper closure at the top.
Following the buzzy runway show, social media was quick to point out that similar bags have been on sites like AliExpress for less than $4 USD.
