Autumn is finally here and for those contemplating a hair makeover for the fall, the time has come for you to shine. We know that copper reds and expensive brunettes will always be a classic go-to. Maybe even a spiced orange may suit some well. If those don’t work for you, we’ve got you covered on many more selections.

The question now is, “What are this season’s trends and where do I start?” We were able to tap New York-based hair colorist Olivia Casanova for the hottest fall color trends that you’re bound to want to achieve yourself this season. Casanova predicts that a bold hue of Brick red and Latte Bronde (not to be confused with your pumpkin spice latte) will be all of the rage. Whether you are saving ideas to your folder on Instagram or bookmarking before your next salon appointment or DIY dye job, read on for five of the most fly fall hair colors for 2022, according to Casanova.

Sunset Copper

As forecasted for this past spring, we’ve seen this lush shade transcend seasons. “Vibrant coppers are definitely here to stay for the fall,” Casanova speaks on this trend. “It’s the perfect time of year to experiment with a look like this because it won’t fade as fast as it usually would during the summer months between sun and water exposure. The base color of a Sunset Copper would have true orange and gold undertones. If you’re looking to make a statement, this is the perfect on-trend and bold look.”

Brick Red

Red is such a power statement color for the cooler months — one that you can’t possibly go wrong with, no matter your hue. “Brick red is another version of an auburn brunette that’s making waves this fall. It has deep brown and red undertones,” Casanova says. “This is a color where with inside lighting you appear more on the brunette side, but with outdoor lighting you appear to be more of a redhead. It’s the perfect way to dabble with being a redhead without the full commitment of being a more vibrant red or copper. Also, depending on your hair history and natural level of lightness, it doesn’t require much bleaching either which is a big plus for many.”

Golden Blonde

This shade of blonde is one that’s popular for light hair bombshells. “For fall I’ve been encouraging a lot of my blonde clients to warm it up and slightly deepen their after-summer blonde locks,” Casanova explain. “It’s a richer, warm color that can be suitable for most skin tones. With less sunlight this time of year our skin tends to get paler, so this is a great way to avoid looking washed out while adding more color to your cheeks.”

Latte Bronde

Instead of a PSL, why not try this silky medium blonde shade. ‘This is a balanced mix of dark and light, achieved with both lowlights and highlights, usually,” The colorist says. “The undertone for this look is typically a more Beige/neutral color. Back to the point of people getting a little paler this time of year, It’s a great fall tone because it can help individuals avoid looking washed out from either being too light or too dark. It’s also a great way to introduce a blonde to going darker, and for a brunette to go lighter without a ton of maintenance.”

Raven Brunette

“It’s timeless, classic, both mysterious and sexy which makes it perfect for the darker months ahead,” Casanova notes. “A deep, rich brunette whether ashy or warm will never go out of style, plus it can be complementary to almost all skin tones and hair textures.”
