Mercury Prize Awards Announces Performers for Its Rescheduled Show
Initially set to take place on September 8, the rescheduled ceremony will now be held on October 18.
The 2022 Mercury Prize Awards were set to take place on September 8 at London’s Eventim Apollo, however, following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the ceremony was cancelled out of respect. The awarding body has since announced a new date for the rescheduled awards show, set to take place later this month.
Playing live at this year’s ceremony is a long list of 2022’s nominees, including Little Simz, Nova Twins, Sam Fender and Joy Crookes. Set to join the line-up are Kojey Radical, Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler, Self Esteem, Wet Leg and Yard Act. Each artist is due to perform one track from their shortlisted album, minus Harry Styles who will be unable to attend the ceremony due to his U.S. tour dates. Instead, a special pre-filmed performance will be shown in his absence.
The 2022 Mercury Prize Awards will take place on October 18 at the Eventim Apollo. All existing tickets for the ceremony’s original date will still be valid, with new tickets available for purchase from the venue’s website.
In the meantime, take a look at this year’s nominees.
