Anne Hathaway Says Her 'Devil Wears Prada' Moment at NYFW Was Pure Coincidence
“It was kind of nuts, wasn’t it?” said the actor.
Last month, Anne Hathway took headlines at the Spring/Summer 2023 edition of New York Fashion Week after sitting front row with Anna Wintour at Michael Kors‘ show, recreating an iconic Devil Wears Prada moment. In a recent interview, the actor shared that her outfit for the day — much similar to an outfit she wore in the classic movie — was not planned at all.
“It was kind of nuts, wasn’t it?” Hathaway said on the TODAY show, continuing, “It was by accident. I was supposed to wear something else, the shoes didn’t fit, this was the other outfit that came, and then my hairstylist was so lovely. I never worked with her before, she said, ‘I know what to do!’ and threw my hair up in a ponytail… I looked in the mirror and I thought, ‘Oh that’s fun! I wonder if anybody will notice…’ You noticed.”
After Hathaway’s front row appearance at the Michael Kors show, fans shared side-by-side images of her look with a scene from The Devil Wears Prada, where the star is seen wearing a brown leather jacket with a black collar tee. Similarly at the recent event, the actor wore a brown leather coat paired with a black collar knit dress.
