Rising Label nibgnus Takes Inspiration From Korean Mythology for "MAGO" Collection
Experimental garments featuring details like shaved fur, drawstrings and more.
nibgnus, a rising label based in South Korea, has unveiled its latest collection dubbed “MAGO.”
The emerging brand is helmed by Sungbin Hong, who founded her eponymous label (nibgnus is Sungbin spelled backward) after being trained at Parsons and Central Saint Martins. With experiences at Marc Jacobs, The Row and Theory under her belt, Hong launched nibgnus in 2019 and has since showcased experimental ready-to-wear garments inspired by her everyday life.
The fledgling label’s latest collection “MAGO” looks to Mago, a primordial goddess from ancient Korean mythology. Each look was created with the belief that every woman carries the deity inside of them.
Hong’s experimental designs continue this season, as fake fur receives a textured makeover with shaved detailing on a jacket and the Wuni handbag. Elsewhere, drawstrings take over items like sweatpants and hoodies, creating a fringed look. Other standouts include a zip-up jacket with cut-outs, paired with trousers with similar elements creating a large heart shape. The range is complete with eyelets applied all over a blazer, shorts and mini skirts.
See the “MAGO” collection in full above. The range is available for pre-order on nibgnus’ website while the designer’s products are additionally available at APOC Store.
