CELINE Dives Into Indie Sleaze for Its Women's Winter 2023 Collection

Presented in the iconic Los Angeles Wiltern Theatre, CELINE has revealed its Winter 2023 Runway collection for women, embarking on its “Age of Indieness.”
Celebrating the resurgence of the indie sleaze trend that is often attributed to the early 2010s, Hedi Slimane proves that the rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic has a rich history as the collection is set to the legendary White Stripes’ track, “Hello Operator,” setting a gritty tone for the evening. Marrying the luxury brand’s coy attitude and elegant tailoring with more grungy accents like faux fur jackets reminiscent of Margot Tenenbaum, the Winter 2023 collection exudes pure rockstar energy.
Ultra-skinny jeans, calf-high riding boots and enigmatic oversized sunglasses are seemingly plucked from Jenny Humphrey‘s closet as the curation of garments toe the lines of refined and edgy. Midnight-hued sequins elevate relaxed mini dresses, while a blindingly sparkling outerwear piece screams “rich b–ch” energy. A shimmering crimson frock offers a punch of color and texture, while a glossy sage green shirt-dress steals the show, while its accompanied by fringed boots, continuing the mélange’s commitment to a high-low approach.
The collection is not without structure as square-shouldered cropped blazers sit atop feminine frilled blouses, whereas an obsidian-colored shag coat is paired with a thick choker for a gothic romantic look. Elsewhere, opulent gold dresses are given a grungy makeover with the assistance of supple leather jackets and a necktie borrowed from the boys, adding an effortlessly cool touch to the meticulously designed pieces.
