Your First Look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in 'Joker: Folie à Deux'

The sequel hits theaters in October 2024.

UPDATE (February 15, 2023): The first look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux has finally been unveiled.

Filmmaker Todd Philips shared the first image of the pop star in character, opposite of of Joaquin Phoenix, who has reprised his role as the Joker. Philips first showed off a first look of the Joker in the upcoming sequel in December, as seen below.

What easily sets this upcoming film apart from its precedent is Joker: Folie à Deux will be the fact that it’s going to be a musical. “It’s an interesting decision,” Hildur Guðnadóttir, the film’s composer, previously told Variety. “And I think it’s really exciting to see how it unfolds. And I think it’s somehow logical at the same time. It’s both logical and also very surprising. For me as well as the audience. So far it’s just been a really beautiful conversation and I’m really excited to see how it unfolds.”

Joker: Folie à Deux is slated to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. Check out your first look at Lady Gaga below.

ORIGINAL (December 12, 2022): Todd Philips has shared the first look of Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux, teasing what to expect for the sequel.

In the photo, Phoenix is sitting down shirtless as someone shaves his face. He appears to be thin and bruised up. “Day 1. Our boy. #joker,” the director captioned the Instagram photo.

So far, the plot for the sequel remains unknown. However, the film title could be giving away some hints. According to Merriam-Webster, the term Folie à Deux means “the presence of the same or similar delusional ideas in two persons closely associated with one another.”

The other thing we know is that Lady Gaga will be starring in the movie as Harley Quinn. Unfortunately, it will be a while until fans get to see a first look of the pop star as the iconic character. In the Instagram comments of the photo Philips posted, he revealed Gaga “does not start with us until after the new year. So it’s gonna be a bit.”

In the meantime, check out the first look of Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux below.
