Sacai Taps Nike and Ghetto Gastro for the Ultimate Waffle Collaboration
Giving the sacai x Nike Waffle a whole new meaning.
Japanese label sacai has teamed up with food collective, Ghetto Gastro, for a Swoosh-inspired menu served at Harajuku pop-up space, Tokyo Burnside.
The collaborative cafe will see sacai GASTRO offering four unique waffle combinations, from “Strawberry Haze” and “Black Power” to “Chicken Coup” and “Triple C.” First up is “Strawberry Haze,” a sole-shaped waffle complete with fresh strawberries, followed by “Chicken Coup,” aka the chicken and waffle staple. Next up is “Black Power,” comprising a chocolate waffle served with plantain ice cream. The final offering is nothing short of a fine dining experience, as it combines a side of caviar with the humble waffle.
Each waffle is made gluten-free and features the Swoosh stamp of approval (like, literally,) developed from sacai’s own recipe. Attendees of the cafe can also try out a selection of coffee and matcha-based drinks, provided by Rocky’s Matcha and Blue Bottle Coffee. As expected, the collaboration is supported by Nike, so the cafe is also set to feature collaborative merchandise, featuring co-branded sacai and Ghetto Gastro T-shirts and tote bags.
The sacai GASTRO cafe is available to visit in Harajuku’s Tokyo Burnside location from December 24 to 30.
