A New Wave of the Choker Trend Has Arrived
The ’90s accessory gets a floral Y2K twist.
The choker has been around for centuries and has been reimagined countless times over the years. During the ’90s, the accessory peaked, especially lace iterations that complemented the gothic resurgence vibe.
Like many trends making a comeback, the choker arrived in the form of a flower in Prabal Gurung‘s Resort 2022 collection presented last year. Incorporating the Y2K aesthetic with the popular ’90s piece, the latest take on the choker is reminiscent of a corsage you would typically wear on prom night.

Following Prabal Gurung’s line, Blumarine debuted its own versions of the flower choker in its Pre-Fall 2022 range, including a gold sequined design inspired by the ’80s. Meanwhile, at Anna Sui’s Spring 2022 show, a model was seen in a multi-colored choker connected with pearl-toned oval charms. Kim Shui also hopped on the trend by creating a loose-fit style with a red rose in the center.
The perfect statement accessory, the flower choker is set to emerge this season, allowing you to add extra flair to your spring looks. If you’ve been considering switching up your style for the upcoming season, we’ve gathered a few flower chokers below for you to experiment with.
