“I am so proud of the company we became,” she shared in an Instagram post.

Alexa Chung took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that she is shutting down her eponymous fashion label, which had been winding down its operations for several months.

Chung cited the difficulties that small businesses encounter amid the pandemic. She shared: “It was beyond an honor to be able to create my dream wardrobe, and I would like to thank our wonderful customers for the love you sent our way — you have great taste.” The post featured a montage of her donning the brand’s classics, encompassing a striped denim dungaree, leather biker jacket and a silk nightie. She continued: “The decision to close was not taken lightly, not least because I am so grateful for the passion and creativity the team at ALEXACHUNG brought with them every day and the faith everyone involved had in this endeavor. I am so proud of the company we became.”

Prior to the launch of her label in 2017, the style icon found success through a number of collaborations with high street and luxury labels. These include her Marks and Spencer collection and partnership with Mulberry, which paved the way for the “Indie Sleaze” aesthetic. Chung’s label was similarly infused with the same motifs, spanning cool-girl and Parisian-inspired designs. A few examples include floral print skirts, Breton-stripe crochet cardigans and knitted scarves.
