Naomi Osaka is the Latest to Join 'Fortnite's Icon Series
Marking the first female athlete to team up with the video game.
Naomi Osaka is the latest star to join Fortnite‘s Icon Series. Through the partnership, the four-time Grand Slam champion brings an array of outfits and accessories to the game.
“I’ve been playing Fortnite for a long time — when I saw LeBron had joined the Icon Series, it made me want to join the Fortnite family too. It’s really amazing to be able to connect with so many people around the world,” the athlete said in a press release. In addition to Osaka and James, the Icon Series has featured releases with Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak and more.
The collaborative range includes the “Naomi Osaka Outfit” comprised of the “Royale Racket Pickaxe/Back Bling.” Meanwhile, the “Dark Priestess Naomi Outfit” comes with the “Portalforger Paddle Pickaxe/Back Bling.” The pack is complete with “The Queen’s Cloudcarriage Glider,” “Cursed Hazeboard Glider” and the new “Serve Stance Emote.”
Nate Nanzer, Global VP of Partnerships at Epic Games, further commented on the partnership: “The Icon Series is the ultimate celebration of the most dynamic figures in culture for Fortnite’s audience of millions, and there’s no one more perfect than Naomi Osaka to join the Series as the first female athlete.”
Players who are interested in unlocking the collection prior to the official launch can compete in the Naomi Osaka Cup on March 2. The pack will receive a wider release at 7 p.m. ET on March 3.
