Nike is expanding its efforts to support women athletes with the launch of its new Think Tank collective.
The Swoosh has announced that its latest initiative aims to bring together the industry’s changemakers and “translate their world-class expertise into valuable insights that improve the experience of girls and women in sport.” The commitment includes a $1.3 million USD investment to the Charities Aid Foundation America, which will help organizations whose goals align with the sportswear giant.
Shalane Flanagan, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Sabrina Ionescu, Beatrice Vio, Ibtihaj Muhammad, Scout Bassett,
Simone Manuel, Nafi Thiam, Angela Davis, Serena Williams, Dina Asher-Smith, Deyna Castellanos, and Ada Hegerberg have chosen their charities of choice to create access and opportunity for female athletes.
“We know that if we want more women to experience the power of sport, that starts with more girls having access to a positive experience,” the brand shared in a statement. “We’re showing the world that girls are made to play and are committed to achieving 50% girl participation in the sport-based community programs we support,” it added.
