Tennis Icon Venus Williams Shares Her Simple Skincare Routine
Here’s what we learned while chatting to Lacoste’s global ambassador.
Luxury sportswear brand Lacoste has tapped into its strong tennis roots with the appointment of Venus Williams as its global ambassador. At an intimate dinner during the 2022 Miami Open, Hypebae spoke with the tennis star about her partnership with Lacoste, as well as her journey with beauty throughout her years of being an athlete.
Williams shared that she is taking her ambassadorship as an opportunity to learn from Louise Trotter, who became the first woman to lead creative at Lacoste when she took the reins in 2018. “Her clothes transform you once you put them on,” Williams said. “Working with Louise makes me feel like I want to be better; I want to work harder; I want to dig deeper inside of myself.”

Beyond clothing, when asked how she’s been taking care of her skin to prepare for the court, Williams responded, “It’s got to be sunscreen. It has to be [applied] all day. It’s super important for me because you lead with your skin, the biggest organ in your body.”
Williams also revealed that her beauty philosophy is “less is more.” She said, “After a match, I scrub and moisturize. I keep my routine pretty simple, because the older I get, the more I find we need fewer products to get the job done.”
