Lacoste Just Redefined the Tennis Shoe
Debuting tennis ball heels and court shoes at its Paris Fashion Week show.
For SS27, Lacoste took guests back to the home of French tennis, aka Roland-Garros, for a showcase that redefined the tennis shoe. Transforming the sport’s familiar emblem into sneaker soles, heels and more, the collection took the brand’s tennis heritage to another level.
Titled “Dress Code: No White Required,” SS27 took us on a journey through tennis’s relationship with fashion. The collection began with pristine white looks and traditional sportswear styles, eventually evolving into a more fashion-forward representation, experimenting with layering, outerwear and accessories. Taking inspiration from the rebellious attitudes of icons like Suzanne Lenglen and, of course, René Lacoste, the collection referenced their bravery and unique approach to the sport.
For its final looks, the brand’s creative director Pelagia Kolotouros flipped the classic whites on their head, transforming them with hues from the sun-baked clay of the court.

A particular highlight from the collection was undoubtedly this season’s footwear. The ACE-T1 sneaker fused a tennis ball wedge and lace-up pump to create a new silhouette, one that quite literally puts our eyes on the ball. Complementing the experimental silhouette was an updated series of sneaker-inspired heels, arriving in hues of neon green, white and silver.
