Lizzo Is Back and It's "About Damn Time"
The artist also reveals the release date of her new album, ‘Special.’
Lizzo has finally returned to the music scene with her brand new track titled “About Damn Time,” which she teased last month on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
The empowering song is also accompanied by a disco-inspired music video directed by Christian Breslauer. The visual stars Lizzo who attends a “Stressed and Sexy” support group and gets asked to share her thoughts. The artist panics and runs out to the hallway where she starts dancing to the electrifying beats.
“‘About Damn Time’ can lead to so many conversations. It’s about damn time I feel better, it’s about damn time we get out of this pandemic,” Lizzo tells Zane Lowe on New Music Daily on Apple Music 1. “It’s about damn time we get the first black female Supreme Court Justice. There are so many things. It’s about damn time we popped the champagne. It’s about damn time the tequila got here.”
The singer has also announced the release date of her upcoming album, Special – July 15. “Special is multi-purposeful and can mean so many things,” Lizzo shares. “I feel like the album is an incredible body of music, which was super important to me. I wanted to create good f*cking music that actually was cohesive, and meaningful, and rich and lush.”
