The Internet Roasts Paula Patton for Her Fried Chicken Recipe

The actor has responded to the backlash.

Paula Patton recently posted a video of her demonstrating how to cook her mom’s fried chicken, which has unfortunately received backlash online.

TikTok user @thetrackqueen broke down Patton’s tutorial while commenting on her process. The video shows the actor rinsing the chicken with cold water to “clean” it, followed by directly coating it with flour without any seasoning. Patton then proceeds to deep-frying the chicken in oil and seasons it as it cooks. “In the grease?,” the TikTok user asked in shock. “You’re seasoning grease!”

Following the criticism she received, Patton took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the situation. “It’s all good because everybody’s got their own way of making things,” she said. “And I’ll take suggestions, I’ll make a new kind of fried chicken, but I’m gonna always make my mom’s chicken the way she did it. We put the seasoning in the oil and all that. It’s just the way we do it.”
