Kylie Jenner on Why She Chose to Wear a Wedding Dress to the 2022 Met Gala
“It’s so much more special to me that I don’t care what people think,” she says.
Kylie Jenner‘s Met Gala look has gotten mixed reviews. However, the beauty mogul was more than happy to wear an Off-White gown to honor the late Virgil Abloh.
In a behind-the-scenes video titled “Married to the Met,” Jenner revealed she wasn’t actually planning on attending this year’s event but changed her mind last minute. “I was like ‘Unless I can go and honor Virgil’ and [his wife] Shannon would want me to go and I would wear Off-White, then that’s the only reason I would go today,” she said. “To honor him.”
She added, “I feel like I was supposed to go with Off-White because Virgil and I talked about this for the last two years. I was supposed to go with him in 2020, so it feels right that my Met comeback I’m going with Off-White for sure.”
The reality star also opened up on not caring about being criticized for her outfit choice. “It also puts off the pressure of what people think about my look because I love it so much,” she continued. “It’s so much more special to me that I don’t care what people think. It’s very special.”
Shannon gave Jenner her stamp of approval. In the video, a note from her can be seen, which reads: “Kylie, You are going to be amazingly perfect tonight. He will be with you guiding you up the stairs. We all know he never missed a party. xoxo Shannon”
