CHARLES & KEITH Taps Spanish Artist Coco Capitán for Collaboration
Highlighting the power of prose.
Singapore-based brand Charles & Keith just launched a new collaboration with Spanish artist Coco Capitán, drawing inspiration from her poetic works.
“My art is inspired by overheard conversations, diary entries, and sudden waves of introspection,” Capitán explains in a press release. “I believe that words can transcend cultures and give us a glimmer of hope for brighter times,” she adds.
The collaboration sees the artist transform the brand’s signature Perline Penny Loafers and Double Handle Sculptural Tote Bag with an array of delicately embroidered blue daisies and blue overstitching. Using daisies as a motif, they represent complex emotions and hope, much like Coco Capitán’s poignant words which also feature on the products.
The phrase “Loves Me Blue, Love Me Blue Not” can be found embroidered across the side of the loafer, while “The hope that carries a blue flower, growing and cracking the concrete, watered with rain in a corner nobody steps,” can be found across the bag.
The artist’s deliberate detailing adorns androgynous and structured silhouettes, fusing a childlike innocence with the brand’s understated elegance. Completing the capsule, Capitán reinvents the Charles & Keith logo with her signature script which can be found plastered across the loafer insole.
The new capsule is now available for purchase from Charles & Keith’s website.
