Sludge and Art of Football Celebrate the Women's Euro With a Collaborative Jersey
Designed by Offside Outlet.
Online platform Sludge has teamed up with community-based brand Art of Football for a collaborative shirt, released in recognition of how far women’s football has come in recent years. Launched in line with the current Women’s Euro 2022 tournament, the campaign aims to bring pioneering women in sport to the forefront of the conversation.
Spotlighting a range of women working across the sport and political landscape, the campaign stars Nadia Whittomme, Amie Cripps and Um-E-Aymen Babar. Whittomme is Britain’s youngest MP and an avid Forest fan, known for fostering community spirit in her local area and campaigning for LGBTQ+ and trans rights. Cripps is currently the football editor at VERSUS, known for highlighting women’s place in the sport and the streetwear space. Babar is a journalist working within the intersection of race, class and sport and known for her exploration of the nuanced realities of ethnic minorities across the U.K.
Designed by Ayesha Brown from Offside Outlet, the shirt takes inspiration from the “classic moments” in women’s football that aren’t always given the limelight they deserve. As a result of women’s football being banned in the U.K. from 1951 to 1961, there’s a lot of history that the game has missed out on which the campaign seeks to highlight.
The new AOF x Sludge shirts are available for purchase now from AOF’s website. For more on the Women’s Euro tournament, have a read of adidas’ latest announcement.
