Acne Studios and Artist Jessi Reaves Release Limited-Edition Capsule Collection
The range includes shoe-inspired silver jewelry and delicate repurposed patchwork objects.
Acne Studios has tapped contemporary artist Jessi Reaves to launch a capsule collection that comprises timeless jewelry and repurposed objects for Fall/Winter 2022. Launching on September 22, the limited-edition range includes a silver necklace, shoe earrings, two bracelets, delicate patchwork blankets and oversized cushions made of mixed deadstock materials from the Acne Studios’ archive.
The collection represents the NewYork-based artist’s first product-focused collaboration in which she integrates her occasional use of accessories to explore fashion’s parallel relationship with furniture. Questioning the hierarchies between the two fields, Reave’s creative practice is centered around incorporating found objects to create unprecedented assemblages that interrogate values of authenticity, functionality and beauty.
“I worked on these pieces in the same way I work on anything, searching for something that feels right without exactly knowing why, continuing to complicate the object until it satisfies me or leads to another way of seeing,” says Reaves in the exclusive press release. The capsule collection is launching alongside a campaign video by the artist herself and Bunny Lampert, with music edited by DJ Richard.
“I like the energy and momentum of this video, which is set to music. Collaborating with Bunny is amusing and hardcore, she has a great sense of logic with editing and we encourage each other’s sense of humor. She is also very generous to let her daughter, Niagara, be in the video. I like using the image of a young woman to emphasize an adolescent and irreverent attitude towards art and design,” adds Reaves.
