Apple Is Reportedly Working on a Cheaper Version of the AirPods

Tentatively called the “AirPods Lite.”

Reports are stating that Apple is working on a cheaper version of the AirPods, called “AirPods Lite.”

As of now, the tech giant has four different models of the wireless headphones — the second and third-generation AirPods, the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. According to analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong Intl Tech Research, the company is in the process of developing a more affordable version of the AirPods in order to compete with headphones in a similar price range.

Sources are noting that the AirPods Lite is due for a release sometime in 2023. While not much is known regarding specifications. However, with Apple having kept the AirPods 2 available at a lower price tag of $129 USD in comparison to the $169 USD AirPods 3, the AirPods Lite could possibly be priced lower than $129 USD, although nothing is confirmed as of writing. Apple isn’t expected to launch a new generation of the AirPods this year, so it’s possible the company could launch a new product within the line.

Stay tuned as we learn more about the AirPods Lite.

In related news, Apple recently launched a karaoke sing-along feature on its Music app.
