Disney Introduces Ursula and Prince Eric in the New 'The Little Mermaid' Teaser
The film hits theaters in May.
Disney has officially given fans a first glimpse of Ursula and Prince Eric in the new The Little Mermaid teaser.
“I’m so very excited to continue the #Disney100 celebration with this new look at #TheLittleMermaid,” Halle Bailey, who plays the titular role, wrote on Instagram. “Just 100 days until it arrives in theaters!”
The teaser shows more of Ariel’s life under the sea as her rendition of “Part of Your World” plays. Viewers get a first look at Prince Eric, played by Jonah Hauer-King. Then, at the end, we see Ursula, portrayed by Melissa McCarthy, doing an evil laugh.
In 2019, Disney announced that Bailey would be playing Ariel in the new live-action version of The Little Mermaid. Of the role, she previously told PEOPLE, “The fact that now it’s getting to be played by me, a person who looks like me, woman of color, I’m just like, wow, I’m so grateful what it will do for all the other little Black and brown boys and girls who will see themselves in me. Because I know if I had seen myself when I was younger, I think my whole perspective would’ve changed.”
The Little Mermaid hits theaters on May 26. Check out the latest teaser above.
