Foot Botox Was the Saving Grace That Kept Me From Throwing Away My Six Inch Stilettos
Our beauty editor shares his experience on the old but buzzy “stiletto lift” treatment.
For the last few seasons of fashion week, due to the ongoing pandemic, those who once looked forward to fashion month for the opportunity to rock their trendiest and sky-high stilettos had succumbed to wearing house slippers and the casual Birkenstocks while viewing designer’s presentations online. High heels are back in now that the runways are back open and beauty and fashion enthusiasts are back on the scene. However, after years of not practicing walking in them on foreign surfaces, one can experience significant pain. However, I found an old but buzzy remedy to this problem: Foot Botox.
What is foot Botox and what does it do?
Previously exclusive to uber-wealthy women of New York City, the trend has trickled down to working girls like myself and I couldn’t have been more grateful for the experience. For context, foot Botox is the same as plumping fillers that doctors inject into the face to add volume. The idea behind foot Botox is to reduce the pain from high heels. The Botox shocks the muscles of the heel bone. Foot Botox is the most preferable option for those who have to stand in high-arched pumps for long periods or times or for those like myself who aren’t as attuned to high heels because of the pandemic. Keep reading on for my experience.
Where can I get it?
I went to a local cosmetic dermatologist for the procedure in NYC. They prepped my feet and proceeded to inject a filled called Radiesse into the sole of my foot. The doctor advised that this filler would help restore volume and cushion to the ball of the foot. Within weeks it’s supposed to add a lattice structure over the bone to act as a natural cushion — over a more extended period, your body will naturally be stimulated with collagen that further increases the softness. After the injections, I felt immediate relief in my feet.
How much does foot Botox cost?
Because I wanted to walk freely as I once did in my heels pre-COVID, I paid full price for the procedure. The cost can vary from $600 to $1500 USD, all contingent on how many fillers one may require.
How often should I get it?
It is recommended that you receive the treatment every four months, as that is when the Botox will wear off. Also, keep in mind that this isn’t a pass to wear six-inchers every day — please be sure to tip in moderation.
