Christian Cowan's 'Teletubbies' Collection Is for the '90s Babies

British designer Christian Cowan once again has sent the internet into a frenzy, as a result of his newest collaboration.

Joining forces with Teletubbies, the Central Saint Martins alumni has designed a capsule collection taking cues from each character’s distinctive look. Leading the collection is a pair of bright green high-heeled boots, inspired by Dipsy. The boot is crafted with green fleece, lining the inside of a patent green leather interior, complete with Dipsy’s face, ears and hands peeking out of the top.

Elsewhere, the collection fuses T-shirts, hoodies, denim jackets and jeans with Teletubbies iconography and graphics, offering a playful spin on signature “Homage Tees” designs. The capsule sees Cowan placing the vibrant characters in seemingly “normal” settings for its graphics, pictured hugging and dancing with models.

Speaking about the collection in an Instagram caption, the designer said, “When deciding what our next collaboration would be, we were throwing around lots of pop culture icons, and then it struck us, let’s do the icons. We treated Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po and Tinkey-Winkey like the legends they are, shot in an Avedon-esque style, these garments tell the story of our four legendary characters, who have come to step on everyone’s necks and have autographed these pieces for their adoring fans.”
