Nicki Minaj Announces Her Own Record Label and Roster of Artists
“Don’t think my label is just rap, or black, or anything,” she says.
Nicki Minaj has revealed she’s launching her own record label, which will feature all different types of music artists and genres.
“There’s a big announcement coming …Well, I have a record label now,” the rapper said on the latest episode of Queen Radio. “I believe so strongly in loyalty, and because I’ve spend my whole life giving to others that turn around and sh-t on me.”
“Don’t think my label is just rap, or Black, or anything. We got some other genres of music,” she added, while still not giving away the name. What we do know so far though is that the roster includes Nana Fofie, Tate Kobang, Rico Danna and London Hill. Patty Lauren, AKA Patty Duke, who is Minaj’s longtime friend, will be A&R for the label.
Minaj also spoke about how Lil Wayne inspired her to help other artists. “There’s no real person that believes in them,” she explained. “That’s like, ‘Nah, I’m gonna make it my business to see you shine.’ That’s why I never wanted to do a label before because I said to myself … Unless I’m ready to really put these artists on I’m not gonna ruin anyone’s life.”
