Dior Travels to India for Fall 2023 Collection
Overflowing with silk dresses and embellished outerwear.
Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri embarked on a pilgrimage to India for Dior‘s Fall 2023 collection, channeling the country’s deeply poetic history to create a show filled with elegance and grandeur.
Reimagining the traditional Indian dress, the collection features an overflowing abundance of silk dresses, jewel-toned kaftans and heavily embroidered jackets set amoungst the lofty temples and palaces in Udaipur, a city within the Rajasthan state. Minimalistic mauve tunics rest easy alongside more structured suits, bathed in graphic neutrals.
Meanwhile, asymmetric gowns sweep the floor, immediately evoking a sense of glamor. Glittering coats shimmer in the sun, delivering a heavy dose of visual enchantment, whereas quilted handbags elevate the looks. Elsewhere, voluminous chartreuse skirts are paired with outerwear adorned with gilded peacocks, paying homage to India’s opulent aesthetic. Aspects of the region’s architecture and landscape take shape in the form of vivid prints, including the “Indian Animals” motif.
