Daniel W. Fletcher's FW23 Proves Sartorial Suiting Is for Everyone

Bringing Savile Row tailoring into the modern era.

Daniel Fletcher‘s Fall/Winter 2023 showcase took place on June 9 as part of London Fashion Week Mens, debuting a collaboration with 174-year-old Savile Row tailor, Huntsman.

The result is a collection of nine bespoke suits alongside 12 ready-to-wear styles, each drawing inspiration from the rich archives of both brands and merging their distinctive aesthetics. Offering a selection of menswear and womenswear styles, the collection celebrated the art of quality craftsmanship, utilizing signature Savile Row detailing alongside contemporary silhouettes.

With each piece made in the United Kingdom, the collection aimed to shine a light on Britain’s sartorial legacy, whilst also bringing it into the future by incorporating womenswear silhouettes and dress styles alongside cropped menswear vests and oversized bags. DWF’s signature top-stitching technique adorned suits and blazers, while traditional tailoring details like internal belts, fastenings and waistcoat-like structures were incorporated into fresh silhouettes.

“To work with Huntsman in such a way that has been so much about detail and craft is a real honour. I know that being able to observe and take note of the way that Campbell and the team on Savile Row work will inform how I go on to design for the rest of my career,” Fletcher explains in a press release. “Building from the collaboration, I wanted to show the best of what we do here in the UK, the craft behind creating these collections and the heritage of British fashion,” he adds.

Alongside spotlighting British design, the collection revolved around a central theme of romanticism, offering a softer approach on traditional tailoring through trains on dresses, flowing fabric detailing and a sometimes sombre soundtrack, recalling past days of unrequited love.
