Many girls turn to Beyonce for inspiration when considering a blonde hair change. Her various shades of blonde have been iconic over the years, and it’s all thanks to Rita Hazan, the celebrity colorist and owner of Rita Hazan Salon in New York City. She’s been the mastermind behind the legendary blonde looks for over a decade.

The most current stunner for the star is her “Crème Brûlée” Blonde that Hazan recently created for Bey. “The color I did for Beyonce is lighter than before (Sunwashed Blonde), leaving Beyonce with a creamy color and highlights,” Hazan tells Hypebae Beauty. “Essentially, she is the perfect combination of three blonde hues – baby, pale and golden.”

In an exclusive with Hypebae Beauty, Hazen outlines how she arrived at the “Crème Brûlée” shade for Queen Bey. “I started by highlighting the lightest shades around her face and made sure that when she styles it half up half down that her highlights give the perfect dimension,” she explains. “This time, I was strategic in making it more dramatic underneath, especially for her half up half down hairstyle.”

Next, I blended out her hairline, making it finer. I finished by making her ends even lighter and blonder than the top,” Hazan continues. “This is the height of the summer, so we wanted to take her blonde shade up a notch to create this beautiful “Crème Brûlée” Color.” Hazan also explains that for the health of Bey’s hair, she built on top of the “Sunwashed” Blonde shade that she colored the artist’s tresses with at the start of the tour.

Hazan used her eponymous brand’s Rita Hazan Sun-kissed Gloss to bring out the golden luster of Beyonce’s tresses. “Glosses are sometimes forgotten in the hair care regimen, but they are a solid product to ensure brilliant color beyond the chair,” she adds. Hazan also recommends using Rita Hazan Weekly Remedy for highly processed hair to infuse hydration back into the hair.
