“Is the porn industry worried about AI robots being used so the company’s don’t have to use real people to save on cost and pay wages of the performers?”
Hey bae! This is a great question! The short version: no. Excuse my French, but AI can’t s-ck the soul out of your metaphorical d-ck and help you unpack your childhood trauma.
Let’s unpack:
It’s important to think of why people pay sex workers. First, know that sex work is work — and it’s more layered than the general population would like to admit. From people who are differently abled to married people with celibate partners, hiring sex workers is a resource for many.
AI won’t disrupt our work because there’s one element that AI could never replicate: human connection. The qualities our clients appreciate us for are empathy, a listening ear and a true safe space — a few things AI can’t truly deliver.
It’s actually why I transitioned into the industry. I needed work with flexible hours that would allow me to utilize my creative skillset. As a former Behavior Therapist and woman who loves to f-ck, I noticed a lot of my sexual partners, new or tried and true, would spend weekends at my home just talking about their lives from childhood to adulthood. They’d never had that safe space.
I then realized that the girlfriend experience, and later on, porn, was a skillset I could tap into until I figured out the career that 25-year-old me really wanted.
And now, here we are.
A word on deepfake porn…
When you look closely at deepfake porn, it reveals another layer. This is porn created without the consent of others, and the only people that consume this — excuse my French, again — are f-cking weirdos. As WiRED shared in its piece on deepfake porn, it’s a “pervert’s dilemma.” Anyone who would knowingly consume deepfake porn is most likely a predator with deep rooted psychological issues that only a therapist could attempt to help. The allure of sex work — for the clients we embrace — is connection, artistry and the consensual exchange of services.
