Pharrell Williams' New Book Is All About His Custom-Made Jewels
Published by Rizzoli New York.
Pharrell Williams just announced a new book, published by Rizzoli New York and exploring the process behind his collection of custom-made jewels.
Titled Pharrell: Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels, the new book is set to delve into the artist’s self-proclaimed “costly habit” and highlights over 100 of his own custom pieces, exploring the significance of jewelry and its place in Williams’ life. Featuring pieces like the “unauthorized” Casio G-Shock watches to the gem-encrusted N.E.R.D Brain pendants created with Louis Vuitton, the book chronicles the artist’s fascination with jewelry.
Rizzoli’s editor, Ian Luna, explained that the book is “the first monograph of a connoisseur of the [hip-hop jewelry] space, on an individual creator within [it]. Like everything else that he’s done, you know, [Williams] has innovated within this fashion space. Cuban links with diamonds, the use of color on pendants, the use of both natural and engineered diamonds to create color and texture…”
Pharrell: Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels also includes conversations with Kenzo’s creative director, NIGO, alongside AMBUSH‘s Yoon Ahn and Tiffany & Co.‘s executive vice president, Alexandre Arnault, plus jewelers Lorraine Schwartz and Jacob Arabo. To celebrate the launch, Williams held a book signing in Paris at the French capital’s hottest new cocktail bar, Cravan, with Colette founder Sarah Andelmen, Dev Hynes and Yoon Ahn some of the names in attendance.
Pharrell: Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels is now available for purchase from Rizzoli.
