A Closer Look at Dr. Martens' New MM6 Maison Margiela Collaboration
First teased on the runway in Milan.
MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens‘ new collaboration is fresh off the runway. Making its debut at Margiela’s Milan Fashion Week show, it’s the first time both brands have teamed up. Reconstructing and merging four signature Dr. Martens designs: the Original 1460 boot, the extra tall 1490 boot, the 1461 shoe and the Penton loafer, the collaboration results in three hybrid silhouettes.
The first is the 1460/1461 Boot, which fuses the 1460 8-eye boot and 1461 3-eye shoe, crafted from vintage smooth leather in “Oxblood” and black. Reinforced with a steel toe, the boots are finished with a Puritan chain stitch. Next, the 1490/1461 Boot blends the 1490 10-eye boot with the 1461 shoe, adding extra curvature to the smooth silhouette. Finally, the 1461/Penton Shoe merges the traditional 1461 shoe with the classic Penton loafer, crafted from smooth black leather with a hint of oxblood.
Each shoe in the collection is finished with an AirWair heel loop and MM6 numeric debossing along with the signature DMS sole and Dr. Martens’ iconic yellow stitch.
