GANNI and New Balance Enlist Emerging Creatives to Revive the T500
Resulting in four artistic interpretations of the new silhouette.
GANNI and New Balance are teaming up once more, but this collaboration is a little bit different from its previous one. Launching in the form of a “special creative partnership,” the new project looks to the T500 silhouette and aims to support emerging talent within Copenhagen‘s vibrant fashion scene.
Inviting four Copenhagen-based creatives to reimagine the T500 shoe, the collaboration includes names like MASCULINA, Bonnetje, Camilla Skov and Ojuna Njama Petersen. Using the shoe as a blank canvas, the result is four incredibly varied iterations of the silhouette, from fuzzy sneakers to court heels.
Launching as part of Copenhagen Fashion Week‘s NEWTALENT scheme, which provides financial bursaries to rising talent, the partnership also sees GANNI participating in a mentorship program for the designers.
“Collaborating with emerging talents and independent creatives has always been a source of joy and purpose for me, and I am thrilled to share our platform with these talented individuals who embody such strong and unique creative visions. The T500 silhouette is a true archival favorite for me, and it was an honor to be invited to reinterpret this iconic shoe some 40 years after its inception,” says Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director of GANNI.
Take a look at the GANNI x New Balance 1500 interpretations above, with the official collaboration available via GANNI’s website and stores on September 20. To celebrate the project, GANNI and New Balance will also be hosting an exhibition of the designs at the flagship GANNI Bremerholm store on the same day.
