Diotima Brings Jamaican Folklore to Life for Its SS25 Show
With fluffy lashes and finger paint beauty.
The Diotima Spring/Summer 2025 collection felt straight out of a storybook. Inspired by a Jamaican folklore called “Pocomania” (which means ‘little madness’), the show let viewers immerse themselves in a fantasy landscape; a creative fairytale come to life.
Addiction Tokyo, the Japanese makeup brand took the lead on beauty. Known for its creativity and ability to allow brand fans to be as expressive as possible, the prestige products were perfect for Diotima’s theatrical look. “This makeup look is inspired by the new collection, pairing minimal, natural skin — mixed with bold ombre eyes. Red and white accents are reflected in the colorful eyelashes for drama and definition,” lead makeup artist Kanako Takase said in a press statement.
For the eyes, Takase used Addiction Tokyo’s The Gel Eyeliner in “Black River” was used to define the waterline and lids. For the red look, The Mascara Intense Lashes in “Black River” and The Mascara Color Nuance WP in “Pure Scarlet” were paired with a fake lash to give off a bold and dramatic look.
For the white style, Takase painted on the The Mascara Intense Lashed in “Honey Brunette” with a pair of white fake lashes for an ombre effect. For the lips, the makeup artist went for The Matte Lip Liquid in “Bitter Walnut” for a bold, deep lip. Finally, Invisible Essence Loose Powder was used to set the makeup.

On hair, Oribe‘s Joey George wanted to capture the essence and theme of the garments with hair that was both fun and playful, calling it a “whimsical chignon.” First, dry hair was made wet with the brand’s Foundation Mist. Then, wanting to keep the hair natural and healthy, he applied the Invisible Defense Universal Heat Protection followed by the Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray to seal the hair cuticles and protect them from damage.
Next, the hair was blow dried in sections and parted on the side, all of it pulled away and out of the face. After this, George put the hair into a ponytail and then a chignon bun, with a net over it. Finally, Oribe’s Superfine Strong Hair Spray was sprayed to seal the hair and tiny extension baby bangs that were created just for the show.
