SHOWPONY Brings Hairy Claws and Deadstock Wigs to the SS27 Runway
The brand’s second New York Fashion Week show was inspired by the construction of wigs.
SHOWPONY, led by creative director and celebrity hairstylist Evanie Frausto, just put on its second show at New York Fashion Week. For its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, the brand brought even more hairy fashion to the runway: ranging from skirts and dresses adorned with deadstock hair to scarves and pants screen-printed with flowing locks.
Frausto says the inspiration for the garments came from the construction of a wig, specifically the knots and other hidden details that are revealed when a wig is flipped around, which are often forgotten entirely. “The collection is a continuation of the SHOWPONY universe, but here garments start to take shape as a wardrobe – moving from head to toe, with clothing and headwear becoming part of the same hairy world. I wanted the pieces to feel ceremonial and otherworldly, like you’ve walked into the middle of a ritual,” he says in a press release.

While the collection itself leaned into the brand’s affinity for the absurd and uncanny, the beauty details also followed suit. For the makeup looks, Kennedy used Urban Decay products to send glitter-soaked glam down the runway. While the lips and eyes remained subdued and natural, iridescent sparkles reflected off the models’ faces. To complete the hairy theme, nail artist Naomi Yasuda dreamed up extra long claw sets and nails adorned with luscious strands of hair.
