Assouline Celebrates 40 Years of Jordans With a Coffee Table Book

Marking the anniversary with a work of art.

In collaboration with Michael Jordan, Assouline is honoring the legendary basketball player’s unending impact on footwear with a new book chronicling the last four decades of Jordan Brand. Air Jordan unpacks the design, innovation and cultural influence of the shoe, from the globally recognized logo to the timeless silhouettes that make Jordans some of the most sought-after sneakers in Nike‘s repertoire.

Like all of Assouline’s works, the book offers a rare glimpse of Jordan’s career and the origins of the partnership with Nike that would change the world of fashion forever. Personal keepsakes, clothing and memorabilia are on display throughout the book, including championship rings, jerseys and more.

Air Jordan features a foreword from the man himself and text by author Adam Bradley, with other athletes and celebrities like Carmelo Anthony, Spike Lee, Napheesa Collier and Jalen Hurts underscoring the culturally transcendent nature of the Air Jordan.

It wouldn’t be an Assouline book without stunning imagery. On the cover is a never-before-seen photograph of Jordan shot by Annie Leibovitz, mirroring the pose of the now iconic Air Jordan logo.

The book arrives in two editions – Ultimate and Classic. The Ultimate edition is made with collectors in mind, with only 1,000 copies made available. In addition to the book, a special-edition silk scarf printed with the Jordan logo is included with all Ultimate orders.

Air Jordan is available for purchase on the Assouline website now, and will be available at global retailers starting November 1.

In other news, IDEA released a new photo book.
