Daniëlle Cathari Teases "Reverse Matcha" Collaboration With New Balance

If you’ve ever wondered what a matcha latte with a shot of espresso would look like in sneaker form, then you’re in luck because Daniëlle Cathari’s upcoming collaboration with New Balance is exactly that. The Amsterdam-based designer just teased a new NB 991v2 silhouette in a barista-approved colorway on Instagram, with the comments all begging for a release date.
The “Reverse Matcha” drop takes the classic New Balance style and turns it into a sleek, earthy grail that will have you running to your local coffee shop for the matching beverage. Remixing the limited-edition “Matcha” sneaker she released with the brand last year, this version inverts the colorway. A brown, suede upper is accented by green mesh and laces. The same two-tone sole in tan and ivory continues the color story between the two drops, with grey details adding the finishing touches to both pairs.
Though Cathari’s post was just a teaser, she tagged both New Balance and Kith, so it can be expected that this limited drop will be exclusive to the NYC retailer. There isn’t a set release date, but “Reverse Matcha” is set to be on the streets in the near future.
