Completedworks’ FW25 Show Stars a Frazzled (And Glamorous) Debi Mazar

Anna Jewsbury talks about turning “What I loved about the home shopping channel concept is that they often sell products that promise transformation.”

It’s become something of an unwritten rule of London Fashion Week: to expect the unexpected from Completedworks. The jewelry and ceramics brand has taken the fashion show concept and fused it with art, tapping young playwrights to create a narrative that turns static objects into a living, breathing drama. It helps that Anna Jewsbury has tapped rather legendary actors to take part, too. First came Ab Fab royalty Joanna Lumley, then Glee star Dianna Agron. Who better to follow than iconic New Yorker Debi Mazar?

“She’s such a distinctive character and talent, and so charismatic,” Jewsbury tells Hypebae. “As soon as we landed on the concept for the show, our minds went to Debi to play the protagonist.” As well as appearing in five of Madonna’s music videos – including “Papa Don’t Preach,” ”True Blue,” “Justify My Love,” “Deeper and Deeper,” and “Music.” – Mazar’s most recognised roles include Goodfellas, L.A. Law, Entourage and Younger. Though, it has to be said, her role as the main baddie in Beethoven’s 2nd cannot be forgotten, either.  A total fashion icon.

In the play, written by young play wright, Laura Waldren, Mazar plays the role of Julia, a glamorous but rather distracted and equally stressed out shopping channel host who is battling intrusive thoughts and fantasies. Alongside Mazar, Aine O’Leary – who walked in Alessandro Michele’s Valentino debut – took on the role of the shopping channel model. A caller, appearing as a voice-over, was played by Tara Fitzgerald.

“What I loved about the home shopping channel concept is that they often sell products that promise transformation and thrive on layering value into objects,” explains Jewsbury, “through exaggerated descriptions, add-on offers and a sense of urgency that makes the product feel like a must-have.”

It’s a theme that resonates with the FW25 collection. “It’s about pushing the limits of adornment – pushing jewellery beyond a singular statement into an accumulation of detail,” she adds. Pearls therefore become a base from which to work on, adorned onto and layered with stones.  Jewsbury especially loves the new ear climber: “It’s a style that repeats over multiple seasons, but always in an iterative way.” Which is also true of her presentations, if you think about it.
