Rihanna Is Releasing New Music...with A Catch

In January of 2025, a video circulated the internet of Rihanna singing at a bar. Immediately, fans went up in arms begging their fav to get into the studio and release new music. Her last album release was Anti in 2016, and since, she’s snapped at everyone who’s requested new sounds. That was until February 5. 2025.
The Bajan pop star has clearly heard our cries and returned to the studio. The catch? It’s not a new c-nty album — it’s for the Smurfs movie. The only confirmed single so far is “Heaven Is A Place On Earth,” spotted in the Smurfs trailer, also narrated by the “California King Bed” singer. The new song by Rihanna was originally sung by American singer Belinda Carlisle.
Since becoming a mother in 2022, the pop star has pivoted her career and this film makes complete sense. However, fans don’t seem to be satisfied just yet. “You know we’re hungry when we get excited for Smurf music,” one fan tweeted.
In the sneak peek, our favorite teases the release. “I’m Rihanna, and I play Smurfette in the new movie,” she opens the trailer. Her voice trickles throughout the entire video — and coining her character “The coolest Smurf in the entire village.”
