WWE Star Naomi's View of Beauty Is Shaped by Dance, Her Aunties and Gwen Stefani

“If you look good, you feel good.”

Naomi, a WWE Superstar, is someone who thrives on the thrill of performance. Sports entertainment may be the end result, but her passion for dancing and performing is what landed her there in the first place. She first started her career as an NBA dancer, a path that allowed her to travel and perform at various events. “I was doing a lot of dance work, locally and out of town,” she tells Hypebae. It was during these years that Naomi learned of an exciting opportunity – the WWE was looking for new talent. While many of her dance teammates heard about it, Naomi was the only one who acted on it. “I tried out and it changed my life,” she shares.

That was 16 years ago and since then, Naomi is making a name for herself, captivating audiences with her athleticism, charisma and unique persona. But life as a WWE superstar comes with its challenges. “The hardest part for me at this point is the travel,” Naomi admits, reflecting on the demands of her job. “We’re gone a lot, away from home a lot, but it’s so worth it,” she continued. Despite the tough travel schedules, Naomi is deeply grateful for the opportunities provided to her.

For Naomi, the sense of camaraderie among the women she works with is one of the most rewarding aspects of her career. “We have such healthy locker rooms and we take care of and look after each other,” she explains, emphasizing the strong bond shared by the female wrestlers. “We have each other’s backs. We unite, support each other and make the most of our shows and performances.” While she acknowledges that any workplace can occasionally be tense, Naomi assures us that everything is always handled respectfully.

Naomi’s journey with beauty began long before WWE, rooted in her early years of dancing. “I think being in dance so young, at like eight years old and being in a performance element helped me develop my love for beauty,” she recalls. She was also inspired by her family, particularly her aunties, who always took pride in their appearance. “I wanted to be like that when I grew up,” Naomi says. Entertainment icons like Gwen Stefani also shaped Naomi’s sense of style. “I thought she was so dope, so edgy and so cool,” she says.

When it comes to glam and stage presence, Naomi embraces the fun of getting ready for her performances. “I always put my gear on first and then I just go off of the colors of my gear,” she shares about her creative process. She adds a personal touch to her look, sometimes even experimenting with her makeup choices. “I did a little leopard eyeshadow once that matched my suit and it turned out exactly how I wanted.” For Naomi, beauty plays a crucial role in her performance. “If you look good, you feel good,” she says, acknowledging that getting into character boosts her confidence as she enters the ring.

While beauty is a big part of Naomi’s routine, it’s clear that her focus remains on her career and personal goals. “Coming up, I have a big match this week against Chelsea Green to hopefully qualify for the Elimination Chamber,” she shares, detailing her next steps in the WWE. Her ultimate career goal is to become a Grand Slam Champion, a dream she continues to work towards with determination and focus. “The competition is intense, but it’s a long-term goal that I’m working towards,” she said.
