Sacheu's New Highlighter Survived the NYC Humidity

Our honest review of the viral brand’s new illuminator, the Liquid Glow Stay-N.

Hot and humid days have arrived in New York City, and my makeup has been seriously suffering as a result. Although I consider my skin to be on the normal to dry side, I still find that the sweltering heat has a way of turning my face into a sweaty, greasy mess that will melt away all of the products that I’ve spent precious time applying. For this reason, I’m especially intrigued by makeup that claims to be long-wearing — which is exactly what TikTok-viral brand Sacheu has established a reputation for.

Sacheu, known for its waterproof peel-off lip liner stain that doesn’t require any touch-ups, has expanded its innovative range to include face products. Along with a liquid blush and contour, Sacheu just released its Liquid Glow Stay-N — a highlighter, bronzer and all-over complexion illuminator that claims to deliver a healthy glow that lasts all day.

With how gross NYC summers get, I’d be lying if I said I needed help in the “glow” department. But at the same time, I tend to use as little face products as possible when it gets hot — so, I was interested to see if adding the Liquid Glow Stay-N to my rotation meant that I no longer had to worry about my highlighter wearing off the second I stepped foot outside.

Why The Hype?

The new illuminator is formulated with hyaluronic acid, peptides and squalane to keep your skin hydrated without weighing it down. The Liquid Glow Stay-N comes in six different shades — ranging from an ivory pearl for light skin tones to a rich copper for deep skin tones. Although it can be used to highlight the areas where light naturally hits, Sacheu says that the product doubles as a bronzer, too.

How To Use

When it comes to application, I was really impressed by the Liquid Glow Stay-N. Firstly, I appreciated that it included both a pump and a doe foot applicator — which makes sense for a multi-use product. I found that the pump was great for mixing the illuminator with my foundation, while the doe foot was ideal for highlighting my cheekbones, nose and forehead. Plus, the formula was creamy and easy to blend out. I’ve had a fair experience with liquid highlighters being patchy or pilling, but I didn’t have that problem at all. The application process was fairly simple, either mix the illuminator into your foundation for that all-over glow, or highlight like you normally would with the doe foot.

An Honest Review

After inspecting closely, I noticed that the illuminator had fine specks of glitter. Even though I don’t usually go for a glittery highlighter, I didn’t mind giving it a try. I’ve found that most highlighters that promise “glass skin” are not built for humid climates. To my surprise, the product still looked super natural on me and I didn’t feel like it emphasized my skin texture like some glittery highlighters tend to.

As for the wear-time, I had pretty low expectations at first. I really liked how glowy the illuminator made my skin, but I didn’t expect it to look that way after being in the beating sun all day. However, eight hours after application, my skin still looked just as luminous as it did in the morning. Unlike the usual muggy “glow” I get from sweating, the Liquid Glow Stay N left me looking effortlessly pearlescent and radiant. I didn’t know that was possible in the summer, but I’ve officially been converted.

The Final Verdict

Because of its skin-first ingredients, the highlighter felt comfortable on my skin all day long. It definitely felt hydrating, but not to the point where I was worried about the product slipping off. I was skeptical at first, but in the end, I was pleasantly surprised. The Liquid Glow Stay N not only gave me a gorgeous glow, but it was also easy to apply and comfortable to wear all day.
