Courrèges FW26 Took Us Along for 24 Hours in Paris
Complete with embroidered organza subway tickets and cloakroom receipts.
Nicolas Di Felice took us for 24 hours in Paris to represent a day in the life of a Courrèges woman. The show began with white fabrics wrapped like sheets for those early mornings, inspired by pieces from the house’s archives between 1960 and 1980. This made way for daycoats, as the woman travels about her schedule, with trapezoidal cuts and collars asymmetrically folded up to signify a girl on the go.
As the day progressed, urban references adorned the silhouettes, such as embroidered organza subway tickets and denim woven with a tar effect. Active, liberated and undeniably self-assured, the looks were designed to evoke the films of Chantal Akerman, celebrating the passage of time. Sliding from the elevator into the taxi, evening wear was adorned with embroidered cloakroom tickets or glass beads to reflect the low-lit, neon city streets.
Late into the night, the Courrèges woman returned to her bed, draped in a black dress with a geometric structure. For the show’s finale, models reappeared wearing each look, but this time reworked entirely in white. This marked a tribute to the Courrèges house code, reflecting light and minimalism. The show was a delicate exploration of intimacy and the reality of the outside world.
