'A Magazine Curated By' Blurs the Line Between Beauty and Sports
Its “A Manual for Living Curated for Nike” editorial is reframing beauty as strength.
In an attempt to delve deeper into the visceral connection between sports and beauty, A Magazine Curated By officially unveiled its “A Manual for Living Curated for Nike” editorial. Inspired by the idea that when you feel good about how you look, you perform your best — the duo tapped French makeup artist Marie Guillon and German photographer Kapfhammer to execute a dreamy shoot in honor of the project.
“Spanning nearly 200 pages, the editorial object is organized into five sections: Mind, Body, Soul, Desire and Imagination. Each section features exercises and challenges meant to be annotated and actioned, informed by the hybrid of sport science, athlete mindset and creative practice,” A Magazine Curated By says in a press release.
By functioning as an actual manual, the editorial aims to broadly explore the human psyche and how it relates to the world. Of the five parts, “A Manual for Living Curated for Nike” features a personality quiz, multiple essays, photographs surrounding Nike’s unreleased beauty accessory collection and a conversation between two-time Olympic gold medalist Ashton Eaton and Tobie Hatfield.
