A bit of beauty inspiration ahead of the Met Gala.

The Met Gala is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than impressionist-inspired glam that quite literally belongs on the walls of the Met? While this year’s theme “Costume Art” celebrates the body as a canvas for garments, we can’t help but think of the major contribution beauty has on both the annual gala festivities and art in general.

Harping on this, editorial makeup artists like Andre Loox, Tyra Harrison, Ali Ambrose and Mia Fa Wells are redefining beauty trends by literally transforming themselves into works of art. While we’re holding out hope that the Met Gala brings us editorial makeup looks that are just as detailed, the beauty trend is just another reminder that maximalist glam is officially back.
